“Tomorrow, August 10, I look forward to being with the people of Bengaluru. Three Vande Bharat Express trains will be flagged off from KSR Railway Station to improve connectivity. To enhance Bengaluru’s infrastructure, the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro will be inaugurated. The foundation stone for the third phase of Bengaluru Metro will be laid. A public programme in the city will be addressed,” PM Modi said on X ahead of his visit.
At 11 am, the Prime Minister will flag off three Vande Bharat Express services from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station:
- KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi route
- Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar route
- Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune route
With these additions, India will have a total of 150 Vande Bharat trains. Karnataka will now operate 11 such trains, while Maharashtra, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir will also see their high-speed rail networks expanded.
Following the flag-off, PM Modi will inaugurate the 19-km Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, connecting RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra. Built under Phase 2 of the project at a cost of approximately ₹7,160 crore, the line covers 16 stations and links important residential, commercial, and industrial hubs.
The launch will extend Bengaluru’s metro network to over 96 km, benefiting lakhs of daily passengers. PM Modi will also take a metro ride from RV Road to Electronic City, one of the city’s major IT corridors.
Later in the day, he will lay the foundation stone for the ₹15,610 crore Phase 3 of the metro project, which will add over 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 new stations. This expansion is expected to greatly strengthen the city’s public transport and help ease traffic congestion.
The Prime Minister’s visit will end with a public address around 1 pm, where he is likely to outline the government’s plans for world-class transport infrastructure and an improved quality of life for Bengaluru’s citizens.
