PM Modi To Visit China For SCO Summit, His First Visit Since Galwan Clash

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit China later this month for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, marking his first visit to Beijing since the violent confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020.

PM Modi will travel to Japan on August 30, after which he will proceed to China for a two-day visit.

Earlier this year, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had also participated in SCO-related meetings.

India-China Relations

The bilateral relationship between India and China reached its lowest point in May 2020 following the deadly clashes between soldiers of both sides. The skirmish led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers, and China too reported casualties on its side.
