Political Leaders Pay Tribute to Senior Congress Leader Kumari Ananthan – Emotional Moment with Tamilisai
The passing of senior Congress leader and former MLA Kumari Ananthan has deeply saddened the political fraternity. His mortal remains were kept for public homage at his residence in Saligramam, Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi was among the first to pay floral tributes and offer his respects. He also consoled Puducherry Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who was visibly emotional.
Following this, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid his respects in person. At that moment, Tamilisai Soundararajan, overwhelmed with grief, held the Chief Minister’s hands and wept. In a poignant scene, Stalin offered her words of comfort.
Later, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan paid homage to Kumari Ananthan and, addressing the media, praised him as “a true ideological successor of K. Kamaraj who constantly supported and encouraged our party.”
Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth also paid her last respects. Speaking to the press, she said, “Kumari Ananthan was a staunch advocate of prohibition and dedicated his life to that noble cause. He worked tirelessly for the welfare of society.”
Kumari Ananthan’s demise is widely regarded as a significant loss to Tamil Nadu’s political and social history. Many across party lines have come forward to remember his principles, activism, and service to the people.
