Poll Panel Sends Notice to Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha Over Alleged Possession of Two Voter IDs
The Patna District Administration on Sunday issued a notice to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha following allegations that he holds two separate Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC).
The notice, issued by Bankipur’s Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), stated, “It has been found that your name appears in the draft electoral list published during the Special Intensive Revision 2025 at polling station no. 405, voter serial no. 757, EPIC No. – AFS0853341 of Bankipur Assembly Constituency, as well as in 168 Lakhisarai Assembly Constituency, Lakhisarai, EPIC No. – IAF3939337.”
The BJP leader has been asked to respond by 5 pm on Sunday, 14 August.
Tejashwi Yadav’s Allegations
The notice came hours after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav accused Sinha of holding two different voter IDs.
Yadav shared details of the alleged dual entries on X, including two different EPIC numbers — IAF3939337 for Lakhisarai and AFS0853341 for Bankipur.
He also pointed out discrepancies in the age recorded on the two voter cards, saying, “His age is different in both — 57 years in one and 60 years in the other. Is this not blatant fraud and age-related falsification? He submitted two separate enumeration forms in two constituencies, both signed by him, showing he knowingly got registered in two places.”
Alleging an “age scam” and “voter list scam,” Yadav questioned the Election Commission of India’s silence and demanded action against the BJP leader. He also called for an FIR to be lodged against Vijay Sinha.
Vijay Sinha’s Response
Vijay Sinha strongly denied the allegations, calling them a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
He explained that his family earlier had voter IDs from Bankipur, where they resided, but in April 2024, he applied to get his name added to the Lakhisarai constituency and removed from the Bankipur list.
“That did not happen initially. I then contacted the BLO, filled the necessary form, and obtained a receipt,” he said, adding that despite the clerical error, he only votes from Lakhisarai.
