A new allegation has emerged that Prafulla Koda Patel has recommended transfer of jurisdiction of Lakshadweep judiciary from Kerala to Karnataka High Court.
Lakshadweep, a union territory of India, is located in the Arabian Sea, about 200 km off the coast of our neighboring state of Kerala.
The population of Lakshadweep is about 65,000. Lakshadweep is a major tourist destination located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Prafulla Koda Patel, who has been appointed as administrator in Lakshadweep, has created a lot of controversy over the action taken by Praful Patel against the people there.
Political party leaders and various sections have ordered ban on beef in Prafulla Koda Patel’s Muslim-dominated Lakshadweep region, banning non-vegetarian food in schools, allowing sale of liquor, appointing and removing government employees. The Kerala High Court is currently hearing any matter related to Lakshadweep. Several petitions have been filed in the Kerala High Court against Prafulla Koda Patel. Keeping this in mind, Prafulla Koda Patel is said to have decided to transfer the jurisdiction of the Lakshadweep judiciary to the Karnataka High Court.
