Prime Minister Modi said that he is eager to meet the BRICS leaders.

Before leaving Russia to attend the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi issued a statement in which he said:

“I am leaving Kazan today for a two-day visit to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

India values close cooperation among BRICS countries. The BRICS conference has emerged as an important platform for discussion and debate on issues related to the global development agenda, reformed diversity, climate change, economic cooperation, building adaptive supply chains, promoting cultural and people-to-people connectivity.

The BRICS organization was expanded last year with the addition of new members. An action plan for universal benefit is also included.

Based on the annual summit in July 2024 in Moscow, my visit to Kazan will further strengthen the special and priority security partnership between India and Russia. I am looking forward to meeting the other BRICS leaders as well,” PM Modi said.
