Patna Pirates have announced Ankit Jaglan as their new captain and Deepak Singh as vice-captain for the 2025 season, which kicks off on September 1 against the UP Yoddhas. The team has its eyes set on securing a fourth PKL trophy.
The leadership duo of Ankit Jaglan and Deepak Singh will guide the Pirates as they embark on their campaign on September 1, 2025, facing UP Yoddhas in the opening match. The franchise is determined to add a fourth championship to its tally, strengthening its reputation as the most dominant side in Pro Kabaddi League history.
After finishing as runners-up in last year’s edition, the Anup Kumar-coached Pirates are deep into their pre-season training, focused on a strong start. Skipper Ankit Jaglan, now in his third consecutive year with the team, is the league’s highest-paid all-rounder and has earned praise for his speed, agility, and impressive tackle success rate. Vice-captain Deepak Singh, a defensive powerhouse, has registered 282 tackles in his career, proving his ability to neutralize opposing raiders and anchor the team’s rock-solid defense.
“Patna Pirates have always brought an exciting brand of kabaddi to the fans, and under the guidance of Ankit, Deepak, and Anup Kumar, this season will be no exception. We narrowly missed our fourth championship last year, but this time, our focus is firmly on that target,” said Mr. Pawan Rana, CEO of Patna Pirates.
The squad boasts a strong line-up with Ankit and Deepak at the forefront, supported by Ayan Lohchab, Navdeep, Sudhakar Maruthamuthu, Deepak Jaglan, Hamid Mirzaei Nader, Sanket Sawant, Sombir, Amin Ghorbani, Maninder Singh, Ankit Kumar, Mandeep Kumar, Milan Dahiya, Sahil Patil, Ashish Birwal, Balaji, Jadhav Shahaji, and Saurabh Narwal.
“I’m honoured to lead the Patna Pirates and our mission is to compete at the highest standard throughout the season. Working alongside Coach Anup Kumar has been an incredible learning experience, and his expertise will elevate our performance. We all know what we’re playing for, and we’re ready to push all the way to the championship,” said Ankit Jaglan, captain of Patna Pirates.
