A protest has been announced today by the AIADMK against the new criminal laws that have come into force.
After 150 years the law made by the British has been reformed. This Act has been implemented since July 1 last.
Oppositions have arisen from various quarters to the 3 new criminal laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha, Bharatiya Sakshya Adiniyam, which were brought by the central government to replace Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Evidence Act.
New Laws: It has been reported that AIADMK will hold a protest demonstration today against the introduction of new criminal laws.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palanichamy has said that the new law introduced by the central government will impose Hindi instead of naming it in English, and has announced a protest on behalf of the AIADMK for the first time against the central government. His statement in this regard reads as follows:
Name in Tamil: “The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, demanding removal of irregularities in the 3 new Criminal Amendment Acts brought in the Parliament by the Central BJP Government and implemented from 1.7.2024 and condemning the blatant imposition of Hindi by naming the said 3 new Acts in Sanskrit mixed Hindi, Today (5.7.2024) a huge protest demonstration will be held in Chennai on behalf of the advocates section.
This protest demonstration will be held to demand renaming of the Acts in English and to expose DMK’s double role in relation to the amendment Acts among the public.
Summons: At 12 noon, before the Madras High Court, Mr. I.S. Inpadurai, Secretary of the Association Advocate Division, Ex. The demonstration is being led by M.L.A.
Edappadi Palanichamy said, “In this protest demonstration, the administrators of the lawyer’s association, the administrators of the district attorney’s division and the lawyers should be requested to participate in large numbers.”
The DMK alliance has been criticizing the AIADMK for being in an indirect alliance with the BJP. Accordingly, the AIADMK did not oppose the top leaders and the central government’s plan to the extent of criticizing the state president Annamalai.
Anti-AIADMK: But, after the Lok Sabha elections, especially after the AIADMK’s crushing defeat, such activities are changing. With assembly elections coming soon, AIADMK’s political activities are gaining momentum.
DMK on one side and BJP on the other have been criticizing both the governments. Last week, the AIADMK had urged the BJP coalition government to pass a bill to completely cancel the NEET exam. But now, 3 have announced a public protest against the new laws. Other parties are also closely watching the momentum that AIADMK is taking.
