One of the longest-running Indian television serials, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has consistently managed to keep viewers engaged with its engaging storyline, powerful acting, and unexpected twists. The show, which stars Rohit Purohit and Samridhii Shukla as Armaan and Abhira, recently underwent a time leap. With this shift, several new characters have been introduced. While Urva Rumani, Ruheen Ali Khan, and Sushee Parashar have already joined the cast, reports now suggest that Rahul Sharma is also likely to enter the show soon.
The serial recently saw a seven-year time jump, after which the equations between the main characters changed drastically. Abhira and Armaan are now separated. A new woman has entered Armaan’s life, which has sparked curiosity among the audience. According to a report from India Forums, Rahul Sharma may be seen as a new male lead opposite Samridhii. Rahul has previously acted in shows like Kaal Bhairav Ek Rahasya, Mitegi Lakshman Rekha, and more. Reportedly, Dheeraj Dhoopar was initially considered for this role.
In a recent promo following the leap in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Armaan is shown taking up a new job as an RJ, leaving his former profession of a lawyer. He and Abhira have become distant due to misunderstandings. Their daughter, Pookie, has grown up and currently lives with her father and another woman in Mount Abu. Urva Rumani plays the role of the grown-up Pookie, and Ruheen Ali Khan appears as the new woman in their life.
Talking about the leap and the storyline ahead, Samridhii Shukla shared, “It feels like an entirely new serial. The atmosphere is totally different. All the earlier characters are still part of it, but in a changed manner that I won’t disclose now. You’ll see… and it’s quite fascinating. You’ll witness Abhira’s pain as a mother. The sorrow and guilt she’s held on to for the last 5–7 years… She feels deeply burdened, believing that her own irresponsibility caused her to lose her daughter, and Armaan too,” as quoted by Etimes.
Garvota Sadhwani, Anita Raj, Shruti Ulfat, and Mohit Parmar also appear in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The show has been produced by Rajan Shahi’s Directors Kut Productions and has been airing for nearly 16 years.
