Raksha Bandhan 2025: PM Modi, President Murmu Convey Wishes as Nation Celebrates Rakhi
People across the country are celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the festival that honours the bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a decorative thread known as a Rakhi around their brothers’ wrists. This gesture symbolises love, trust, and a pledge of protection. In return, brothers usually present gifts and promise to care for and protect their sisters in all circumstances.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed their greetings on this auspicious occasion. Posting on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Best wishes on the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan.”
President Murmu stated, “On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens living in India and abroad.” She also shared a heartfelt message on the significance of the festival.
