Road transport connectivity project in the Himalayan region…!

Central Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that 616 kilometers of road works have been completed so far in the Chardham project.

He gave a written answer to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

He said that national highway projects are being carried out in the Himalayan region keeping in view the transport and security needs. A detailed project report will be prepared after assessing the geological, geotechnical, hydrological and topographical conditions before undertaking National Highway projects in this area.

The Chardham project is being implemented to upgrade the existing 5 national highways, including roads connecting the four pilgrimage sites of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, and the Tanakpur to Pithoragarh road on the Kailash – Mansarovar pilgrimage route.

Nitin Gadkari has also said that the works of 616 km of the highway, which is 825 km long, have been completed.
