Rs.4 crore seized… High Court orders BJP treasurer to appear in person…

The Madras High Court has ordered BJP treasurer S R Shekhar to appear in person on Thursday in the case of seizure of Rs 4 crore from Tambaram railway station during the Lok Sabha elections.

During the parliamentary election campaign, on April 6, the Election Flying Squad raided the Tambaram railway station after receiving information that money was being transported in the Nellie Express train for distribution to voters.

At that time, Tirunelveli Constituency Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Nayanar Nagendran’s men were found carrying 3 crore 98 lakh 91 thousand 500 rupees and confiscated it. Three people were arrested. CBCID police are investigating the matter.

CBCID has ordered BJP candidate Nayanar Nagendran, BJP’s Tamil Nadu organizational secretary Kesava Vinayak, BJP treasurer S.R. Shekhar to appear in person and give an explanation in this case. The police had issued a summons.

Madras High Court Judge G. heard the case filed by BJP organizational secretary Kesava Vinayak against this summons. Jayachandran had ordered him to appear in person. He was also present at the hearing.

In this situation, in the petition filed by BJP treasurer S.R. Shekhar, he had already been interrogated by the CBCID police in Coimbatore, but they were continuing to issue summons and requested an order not to harass him.

This case Judge G. Jayachandran came under investigation earlier. Advocate RC Pal Kanagaraj, appearing for the petitioner, argued that since the investigation had already been conducted, re-investigation was unnecessary.

Opposing it, Additional Public Prosecutor Udayakumar argued that what is the reluctance to appear for the hearing and that the Organization Secretary has already appeared. He asked to inquire about the phone conversation.

After listening to arguments from both sides, the judge ordered SR Shekhar to appear in person on Thursday. At the same time, CBCID has also ordered the police not to insist on handing over the cell phone.
