‘Rukmini Ko…’: Disha Patani’s Sister Faces Backlash Over Lord Krishna Remark

Khushboo Patani has sparked controversy on social media with her remarks about Lord Krishna, drawing sharp criticism for allegedly misrepresenting religious history.

Disha Patani’s elder sister, Khushboo Patani—who enjoys a strong following online despite staying away from the film industry—has once again found herself in the midst of a social media storm. This time, it’s over her comments on Lord Krishna during a discussion on love, marriage, and live-in relationships.

Just days after criticising storyteller Aniruddhacharya, Khushboo made statements that have triggered a wave of online backlash. Speaking in a video on her Instagram handle, she is heard saying:

“(Krishna) bhaaga ke leke aa gaye the Rukmini ko Dwarka (Lord Krishna had brought Rukmini to Dwarka by eloping with her).”

She further added that while some people may feel such actions go against societal norms,

“Krishna has always broken the norms of society, every time.”

Her interpretation, however, did not sit well with many viewers. The comments section quickly filled with strong reactions, with users accusing her of distorting religious facts.

One user wrote:

“Hey Kalyug woman… Lord Krishna did not break any rules of society. He removed obstacles in the protection of religion and dignity.”

Another commented, “She will never improve,” while one more remarked:

“Lord Shri Krishna followed the law to uphold religion and religious dignity—not to justify such perverted acts.”

Some reactions became more intense, with one user quoting, “Vinashakalaye viprit buddhi” (At the time of destruction, the mind turns against wisdom), and another appealing,

“O Lord, please take incarnation now. The influence of these demonic forces is increasing.”

The video continues to circulate widely, fuelling a larger debate about the limits of personal opinion and religious sensitivity in the age of social media.
