Sania Mirza Named Brand Ambassador for Gurgaon Grand Slammers as TPL Expands in Season 7
The Gurgaon Grand Slammers have officially joined the Tennis Premier League (TPL) as the newest franchise for the upcoming seventh season. Backed by Canadian-funded investment firm Hygiia Ventures, the team will feature Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza as its brand ambassador.
Hygiia Ventures, led by entrepreneur Gaurav Agarwal, has acquired the rights to the Gurgaon franchise. Speaking about the move, Agarwal shared,
“Sports have always been close to my heart—not only as a parent to an aspiring tennis player but also as someone who deeply values the discipline and structure sport brings. Owning a TPL team gives us the opportunity to support India’s rising tennis stars while expanding our footprint in sports and franchise management.”
Sania Mirza expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating,
“I’m delighted to be associated with a team that appreciates both raw talent and innovation. Gaurav’s vision aligns perfectly with what Indian tennis requires right now—well-planned, long-term investment. I look forward to cheering on the Gurgaon Grand Slammers this season.”
The Tennis Premier League is now among India’s few sports leagues to successfully enter its seventh season, joining a select group of enduring sporting properties. Known for its dynamic, fast-paced format and a blend of top international and domestic talent, TPL continues to draw major investors and fans alike.
Welcoming the new addition, TPL co-founder Kunal Thakkur said,
“Season 7 marks a big milestone for us. The arrival of the Gurgaon Grand Slammers adds further strength and depth to the league. With Gaurav’s business acumen and Sania’s incredible legacy in tennis, this team is poised to make a significant mark.”
Mrunal Jain, fellow TPL co-founder, added,
“The involvement of Hygiia Ventures is a reflection of TPL’s growing appeal as a sports investment platform. It’s a major boost for both the league and Indian tennis. We’re excited to see what the Grand Slammers bring to the court.”
