Serie A Club Como Sign Alvaro Morata on Loan from AC Milan
Spanish striker Álvaro Morata has joined Serie A side Como from AC Milan on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old, who had fallen out of favour at the San Siro, spent the latter part of last season on loan with Turkish club Galatasaray.
“Como 1907 announces the arrival, on loan with an obligation to buy, of Álvaro Morata. A forward shaped by some of the world’s greatest teams, he arrives with a career that spans Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, and the Spanish national side,” the club said in a statement.
Expressing his delight, Morata said, “I’m really happy to have arrived in Como. Last year, playing against them, I could see the team’s ambition and the strength of the project. I promise the fans and the club that I will give 200% in every training session and every match. I can’t wait to wear this shirt.”
Como head coach Cesc Fàbregas, who guided the club to a 10th-place Serie A finish last season, welcomed his former Spain teammate. “I’ve known Álvaro for many years and have always admired his style of play and professionalism. He’s an intelligent striker who has delivered in big moments and inspires those around him. We’re delighted to have him here at Como.”
Morata, who captained Spain to the Euro 2024 title, has won multiple trophies during stints at Real Madrid, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, and Chelsea.
The new Serie A season begins next week, with Como opening their campaign at home against Lazio on August 24.
