Shabir Ahluwalia Shares His Fitness Journey for ‘Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’
Shabir Ahluwalia is all set to return to television with Sony SAB’s upcoming romantic family drama ‘Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’, where he plays Yug, a reserved and emotionally complex lawyer. To portray this role convincingly, Shabir went through an impressive physical transformation, losing 14 kilos over a span of three months.
Speaking to Filmibeat, the actor revealed that his approach was focused more on consistency and balance rather than extreme diets. “I simply cut down on how much I was eating and made sure my workouts were something I genuinely enjoyed,” he shared. His fitness regime included sports like football, cricket, tennis, along with weight training and yoga.
“The goal was to stay active while having fun. Over three months, I lost around 13 to 14 kilos — but more than the weight, it was about becoming the version of Yug I had envisioned,” Shabir said.
He also emphasized that the transformation went beyond just physical appearance. “I had a clear idea of how I wanted Yug to look and feel. His emotional restraint and discipline needed to reflect physically as well. It wasn’t just about changing how I looked, but about embodying Yug’s character in every frame.”
In addition to fitness and diet, Shabir also focused on improving his sleep routine, adopting a holistic lifestyle change for the role.
Interestingly, ‘Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’ is reportedly India’s first AI-driven fiction TV series, making it a unique experiment in the television space. The show also stars Ashi Singh, and centres around the dynamics between two families, with a strong storyline involving Yug Sinha and Kairi Sharma.
Produced by Full House Media and directed by Sonali Jaffar and Amir Jaffar, the show is expected to air on Sony SAB, though the exact premiere date is yet to be announced.
