Sha’Carri Richardson Apologises for ‘Shoving’ Boyfriend Christian Coleman at Airport

The 25-year-old sprinter took to social media to express regret over the incident and apologised to her boyfriend, who maintained that she should not have been arrested.

American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson issued an apology to her partner Christian Coleman for shoving him at the Tacoma International Airport last month, an incident which led to her arrest on domestic violence charges.

The US sprint star posted on Instagram expressing her remorse and apologising to her boyfriend, who chose not to press charges and reiterated that she should not have been taken into custody.

“I apologise to Christian. He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship — he gave me a deeper understanding of unconditional love, something I had not experienced in the past,” Richardson wrote.

“Because of my past trauma and pain, I was unable to recognise and accept it, or even give it in return. I love him, and I cannot apologise to him enough,” she continued.

Richardson stated that she had placed herself in a difficult situation and had engaged in deep self-reflection. She further added that she was holding herself accountable for her actions.

“I am taking this time not only to truly see myself but also to seek a certain level of help that will reflect who I truly am in my heart and spirit. I will not let this moment define me, but I will accept it as a chance to grow,” she said in a video message.

Richardson expressed her commitment to facing the criticism directed towards her.

“I refuse to run away from this. I will face everything head-on because I believe that everything on the other side is better — but you have to go through the struggle to get there,” she said.
