Shafali Verma has scored 96 runs in his first Test against England.
In the first innings of the Test match against India, the England women’s team scored 396 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 121.2 overs.
India then started their innings with 187 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 60 overs at the end of Thursday. Hamanpreet Gau 4, Deepti Sama 0 are on the field.
Shafali Wamma missed the century in the 96-run innings with 13 fours and 2 sixes. Smriti Mandana hit 14 fours for 78 while Poonam Routh fell for 2. Shika Pandey ducked out and captain Mithali Raj returned to the pavilion for 2 runs. Heath Knight 2, Kate Cross, Natalie Skiw and Sophie each took one wicket for England.
In the first Test of the Indian women’s team, the previous highest score was 75 by Chanderkanda Khel in 1995. Shafali Verma is the only Indian to break that record and score the most runs in the first Test.
