Shark Tank India’s Aman Gupta Chooses Life ‘Without’ Work-Life Balance

Shark Tank India’s Aman Gupta reveals he avoids work-life balance, admitting to 16–18 hour workdays.

Famous for his honest views and direct demeanor, entrepreneur and Shark Tank India judge Aman Gupta recently took part in an open conversation on a YouTube podcast with Prakhar Gupta. In the chat, Aman spoke about his personal journey, discussing his early years, parenting challenges, and experiences dealing with bullying.

What stood out most, however, was his bold opinion on ‘work-life balance’ — a notion he openly rejects, calling himself an extremist when it comes to work.

In the podcast, Aman shared that he once worked for 16 to 18 hours a day and had no problem with it. Recalling his past, he said, “Earlier, I had no idea what work-life balance even meant. But Gen Z doesn’t just work; they enjoy life too. They take more chances, something we never did, so I’ve learned a lot from the younger generation.”

He further explained what motivates entrepreneurs like him, saying, “Once you have money, you understand it was never about wealth. Entrepreneurs like us are driven by progress and challenges. We want to grow and contribute to humanity. There was a period when I went on a lot of vacations, but eventually, I got tired of them and started missing work. For me, it’s always about growth.”

Aman also opened up about his strong work ethic, revealing, “There was a phase when I was completely consumed by work. I used to work 16 hours a day. But it’s important to know when to switch off. Personally, I believe in imbalance.”

Paying a touching tribute to his wife, he added, “Till I turned 40, our household ran on my wife’s income. I’m extremely hardworking, but I’ve faced many highs and lows. I’ve put in the long nights and effort to reach this point. I barely remember my daughter’s childhood because I was constantly working.”
