Karnataka has been experiencing heavy rainfall across all its 31 districts, exceeding the normal expected levels. The southwest monsoon started a few days ago and has been quite intense. In response, a review meeting was held under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to assess the situation.

During the meeting, it was reported that around 1.932 million people are currently at risk due to floods and landslides. Since April, pre-monsoon rains have been unusually heavy, helping alleviate drought conditions typically seen from March to May. As a result, water reservoirs have been replenished significantly.

However, the excessive rainfall has also caused severe damage. So far, 67 people have lost their lives. Floods and landslides have affected a total of 2,252 villages and damaged 1,702 houses throughout the state.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that the government has sufficient funds for relief efforts, with ₹1,000 crore currently allocated as the state disaster relief fund. He has ordered senior officials to visit the affected areas immediately and oversee relief and rehabilitation work personally.

This heavy rainfall has created a critical situation, especially in hilly areas prone to landslides. The government and rescue teams are actively engaged in providing emergency assistance and ensuring the safety of affected communities.

The situation remains under close observation, and the authorities are taking all necessary measures to manage the aftermath of the floods and protect the people of Karnataka.
