Supreme Court Judge Indira Banerjee has announced her withdrawal from hearing the case related to the West Bengal riots in which BJP volunteers were allegedly killed.
The BJP has blamed post-election violence in West Bengal and the killing of BJP volunteers by Trinamool volunteers.
In this situation, the families of the victims had gone to the Supreme Court seeking a CBI inquiry.
The case was heard before Judge Indira Banerjee. But Judge Indira Banerjee dismissed the case, saying, “I do not want to hear the case.” It is noteworthy that Judge Indira Banerjee is from Kolkata.
The West Bengal government had said in its reply that every act of violence that takes place after elections cannot be called post-election violence.
Mamata Banerjee had told the apex court that three people had been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of two BJP volunteers.
In this case, the case will now be referred to another bench as Indira Banerjee has withdrawn from the case.
