Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has approved the Alcohol Prohibition Amendment Bill.
More than 60 people died after drinking counterfeit liquor in Kallakurichi. Many are being treated in hospital. The issue reverberated across the country.
In this case, the Prohibition Amendment Bill was brought and passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, in order to completely eliminate counterfeit liquor and provide severe punishment, and a fine of 10 lakh rupees along with life imprisonment will be imposed for selling counterfeit liquor.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has approved this new bill.
