Tejashwi Yadav Alleges Omission of His Name from Bihar Voter List Draft, Election Commission Refutes

BJP’s Amit Malviya Slams Tejashwi Over Allegations, Urges Him to Check Facts Before Spreading Falsehoods

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday claimed that his name was missing from the recently published draft of the electoral rolls. Speaking to the media, he raised concerns over the issue, saying that even after entering his EPIC number, no records appeared in the system.

Tejashwi further mentioned that he had duly submitted the required form through the SIR portal and also handed it over to the Booth Level Officer (BLO), yet his name was not reflected in the updated voters’ list.

“My concern now is, how will I file nomination for elections? Citizenship is the primary eligibility for that,” he remarked.

However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) dismissed his allegations, and BJP leader Amit Malviya also posted a screenshot of the SIR Draft Roll. The shared image clearly displays Tejashwi’s name in the document at Serial Number 416.

Posting the image on social media, Malviya advised Tejashwi to “verify the facts before spreading misleading information.”

Fake News Alert. Tejashwi Yadav’s assertion that his name is absent from the electoral roll after the Special Intensive Revision is completely baseless. His name is clearly listed at Serial Number 416. Please confirm the facts before spreading misinformation. Such deliberate attempts to mislead voters must be strongly condemned,” Malviya wrote on platform X.

Earlier, the Election Commission released the draft voter rolls. According to the document, Bihar’s Patna district accounts for the highest number of registered voters, with 46,51,694 electors.

It is followed by Purvi Champaran (33,73,055), Muzaffarpur (32,03,370), Madhubani (30,24,245), Gaya (29,01,493), Samastipur (28,61,415), Saran (28,60,885), and Darbhanga (27,99,852).

Sheohar district recorded the lowest voter count, with 2,95,929 electors, followed by Arwal (5,11,568), Lakhisarai (7,33,600), Jahanabad (7,81,313), and Munger (9,75,222).

During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted by the Election Commission ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls, more than 65 lakh forms were rejected from the draft electoral rolls. This led to a drop in the total number of registered voters — from nearly 7.9 crore to 7.24 crore.
