Thai Prime Minister Pedongdarn Shinawatra met Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Thai Prime Minister Pedongtarn Shinawatra on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit held in Vientiane where Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Laos on a 2-day official visit.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated Pedongdarn Shinawatra on his inauguration as Prime Minister of Thailand.

Shinawatra congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his historic third term. This will be the first time that the two Prime Ministers will meet.

The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields. They also exchanged views on ways to develop closer cooperation in sub-regional, regional and multilateral fora. In this context, they also discussed strengthening regional cooperation through BIMSTEC.

As this year marks the decade of India’s relations with Thailand, it is noteworthy that this relationship is a key pillar of India’s ‘Look East Policy’ and India’s outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
