It was decided in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to bring a resolution against NEET exam.

A Cabinet meeting was held in Bengaluru yesterday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. All the ministers including Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar attended the meeting. It discussed 17 issues including ‘One country, one election’, ‘NEET exam issue’, ‘Re-delineation of parliament and assembly constituencies’.

It was unanimously decided to pass a resolution against the NEET exam issue, one country, one election and redelineation of constituencies. All the ministers gave their approval.

Accordingly, these 3 resolutions are to be tabled in the Assembly today (Tuesday). There are reports that the resolutions will be debated and passed in the assembly. The Cabinet also approved the ‘Greater Bengaluru Governance Act-2024’. A four-member panel of experts, headed by former chief secretary PS Patil, submitted a report to the Karnataka government a month ago, calling for restructuring of the Bengaluru Corporation.

It calls for the creation of a ‘Greater Bengaluru Authority’ (GBA) to give priority to Bengaluru in terms of infrastructure, development and financial powers. It was also said that the number of wards of Bengaluru Corporation should be increased to 400 wards. It is noteworthy that the Cabinet has approved the ‘Greater Bengaluru Governance Act-2024’ based on it.
