The central government has provided Rs.944 crore to the Tamil Nadu government as a disaster relief fund… Annamalai interview

Heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Benzal led to severe flooding in the Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Kallakurichi districts of Tamil Nadu. Rivers overflowed, and residential areas were submerged, leaving many people severely affected. Responding to the crisis, the Tamil Nadu government announced a relief package of ₹2,000 per family based on their ration cards.

In this context, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai visited the flood-affected areas in Cuddalore to assess the situation firsthand. Speaking to the media afterward, he criticized the state government’s relief measures, stating that the ₹2,000 compensation per family is insufficient. He demanded that the government increase the relief amount to ₹10,000 per family.

Annamalai also pointed out that the central government had allocated ₹944 crore to Tamil Nadu as disaster relief funds in October and emphasized that the central government has been consistently supporting the state during such crises.

His remarks have sparked discussions in political and social circles, with questions raised about the adequacy of relief measures for affected families. During natural disasters like floods, it is crucial for the government to act decisively and provide substantial aid to restore public trust and alleviate the hardships faced by the people.
