The Chief Minister has thrown the Constitution in the trash… Arapor movement accused…!

Arappor Iyakkam’s State Coordinator, Jayaraman, has strongly criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing him of disregarding the constitutional framework for the sake of electoral alliances and assembly elections. He alleged that the Chief Minister had effectively thrown the constitution into the garbage bin.

A hunger strike was organized by Arappor Iyakkam near Rajarathinam Stadium in Chennai’s Egmore, demanding the immediate conduct of rural local body elections in 28 districts. The protest also condemned the Tamil Nadu government and the State Election Commission for delaying the elections.

Speaking to reporters after the protest, Jayaraman stated, “Chief Minister Stalin, who speaks of federalism at the center and self-governance in the state, is suppressing local governance by not conducting elections.”

He further asserted, “If the government is unable to conduct the rural local body elections, the Chief Minister should resign. The negligence of the Tamil Nadu government in this matter is highly condemnable. The actions of both the Chief Minister and State Election Commissioner Jothi Nirmalasamy are against democratic principles.”

Jayaraman also pointed out that the failure to conduct these elections has deprived local representatives of their rights and has prevented the people from electing their leaders for grassroots governance. He termed this delay as a political malpractice.

He concluded by affirming that Arappor Iyakkam would continue to challenge the Tamil Nadu government’s inaction through legal and democratic means to ensure that justice prevails.
