Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple Elephant Parvati is being treated for cataracts. Thai doctors are also being consulted on treatment. In this regard, the Minister of Hindu Religious Affairs BK Sekarbabu inspected the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple on Friday. The Minister then visited the temple elephant Parvati and inquired from the veterinarians about the treatment being given to Parvati.
Following this, he went to the temple of Goddess and Swami and performed darshan. Following this, he visited the Vasantharayar hall which was affected by the fire in the temple and inquired about the renovation work.
Later, Minister Sekarbabu told reporters:
Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple Elephant Parvati was treated for a cataract in her right eye a year ago. Doctors are currently treating the condition as it is spreading to the left eye. Last year, a team of doctors from Chennai had to come for treatment, but the corona infection could not be treated due to general paralysis. Currently, the Chief Minister has ordered the elephant to be given proper treatment.
Further treatment will be arranged for Parvati from abroad if required. There are only 30 elephants in Tamil Nadu temples. So Chief Minister MK Stalin is adamant that the temple should protect the elephants.
Reconstruction work of the Veera Vasantharayar Mandapam at Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, which was damaged in a fire, has been delayed due to corona infection. Reconstruction work is currently being expedited and will be completed soon. Kumbabhishekam will begin after the completion of the Veera Vasantha Royer Hall.
The details of the jewelery were not released as it was not safe to publish information about the jewelery in the temples as the list of properties owned by the temple was published. But jewelry is very safe in security rooms with proper documentation. Steps will be taken to set up a paranormal hospital in the charitable temples.
There are also plans to set up ropecars for temples at the top of the hill. Strict action will be taken against those who usurp property, including temple lands, regardless of who they are. The Chief Minister said that criminal action would be taken if the offenses were proved as per law.
And the occupied temple property will be fully restored. In Tamil Nadu, the incidence of corona infection is greatly reduced due to the intensive measures taken by the government.
