‘The Transition Is Tough’: Parth Samthaan Opens Up On Typecasting Struggles
Actor Parth Samthaan, popularly known for his role as Manik Malhotra in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, was recently seen as ACP Ayushmann in the iconic TV show CID. Having worked in serials like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and MTV Warrior High, along with films and web shows, the actor has built a strong career over the years.
In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Parth spoke about the difficulties of breaking free from typecasting. He explained how audiences often find it hard to accept actors in new roles after watching them in the same character for a long time.
Talking about the shift between television and films, he said, “The switch is tough because TV leaves a lasting impact. People see you daily at a fixed time, while films stay in memory for only a few hours or days. Television becomes part of people’s routine, so the character stays with them for years.”
The actor admitted that in the beginning, fans didn’t like him in newer roles. “They would openly tell me that they don’t like my current character and prefer the previous one,” he revealed.
Parth also spoke about the challenges during Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, which gave him fame but affected his personal life. “The show gave me success, but at the same time, it took away a lot from my personal life. Not just me, but other actors from the show also faced the same issues. Our personal lives became a mess,” he said.
On the professional front, Parth has recently wrapped up his stint with CID and is yet to announce his next project.
