A controversy arose regarding the ghee supplied for making the prasadam laddus at the Tirupati Sri Venkateswara Temple, as it was alleged that the ghee contained adulterated animal fat. Following this, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order on February 14 to suspend the license of A.R. Dairy Foods, a company based in Thindukkal, which supplied the ghee.
Challenging this suspension, A.R. Dairy Foods filed a case in the Madurai bench of the Chennai High Court. The case was heard by Judge V. Lakshmi Narayanan. After reviewing the matter, the court set aside the order suspending the company’s license and reinstated it.
This court decision is expected to restore the supply of quality ghee for the prasadam laddus at the Tirupati temple and reaffirms the importance of adhering to food safety standards. The case highlights the vigilance needed to ensure the purity of ingredients used in religious offerings and food products.
