TMC Panchayat Leader Brutally Killed in West Bengal’s Hooghly
TMC leader Pintu Chakraborty was brutally attacked and killed by unknown assailants in Hooghly district, West Bengal.
In a disturbing incident, a panchayat-level functionary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was hacked to death by unidentified individuals in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, according to police officials.
The incident occurred near the Kanaipur auto-rickshaw stand on Wednesday evening, when a group of assailants attacked the victim, identified as Pintu Chakraborty, using sharp weapons.
He was immediately rushed to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where doctors declared him brought dead, the police added.
“TMC panchayat member Pintu Chakraborty was killed in a brutal attack by unknown men in Kanaipur while he was on his way home on Wednesday evening. A probe has been initiated,” said a police official.
Eyewitnesses stated that the attackers struck him repeatedly before escaping the spot.
State Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty, who visited the hospital, mentioned that the deceased was a close friend, as they were classmates during their student days.
“I am shocked and unable to understand the motive behind the murder, but I trust that the police will nab those responsible soon,” he said.
