Voting will be held in 57 constituencies today (Saturday) for the final phase of Parliament. 904 candidates including Prime Minister Modi are in the fray.
The election schedule for the 18th Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament was announced on March 16. Then the Election Commission announced that this election will be held in 7 phases.
Accordingly, the first phase of the election was held on April 19 for 102 constituencies. This includes 40 constituencies from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Subsequently, 6 phases of elections were held on April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20 and 25. Elections were held peacefully except in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
In this situation, the 7th and final phase of voting will be held today (Saturday) in 57 constituencies belonging to 8 states. The Election Commission has completed all the preparations for this. Voting starts at 7 am. Voting ends at 6 PM.
Local police along with paramilitary personnel are engaged in security operations in tense and highly volatile polling stations. Also surveillance cameras are installed there and polling is monitored.
In this, unprecedented security has been provided for the elections to be held in 9 constituencies in West Bengal. Along with 960 companies of paramilitary personnel, 33,000 local police are on security duty.
Among the 57 constituencies that will go to polls today, the Varanasi constituency where Prime Minister Modi is contesting is included. Here he is playing for the 3rd time. Ajay Roy is contesting against him on behalf of the Congress party.

It is to be noted that out of 57 constituencies going to polls today, last time (year 2019) BJP had won 25 seats, Trinamool Congress 9 seats and Congress 8 seats.
And 75 days of campaigning for these 7 phase elections was held. It can be said that in these campaigns, the heat was more than the summer sun. The day before yesterday, the campaign stopped. After completing his campaign in Punjab, PM Modi has returned to Tamil Nadu. He is currently engaged in a 48-hour meditation at Kanyakumari.
Once the polling is over, all the electronic machines will be taken to the counting centre. The votes will be counted and the results announced on the 4th.
