A journalist from Kenya’s leading news media has given an interview to a private channel amid a tense situation in Kenya where 27 people have been killed.

A bill to raise taxes in the African country of Kenya has been passed in the country’s parliament. The people of Kenya are protesting against it. Incidents of violence have also taken place in some places.

Thousands tried to protest by entering the Parliament premises last Tuesday. Many were killed when the police opened fire on them. More than 30 people were injured.

Enraged by this, the protesters set fire to the Parliament building. This led to great violence. As 27 people have died so far, there is tension in Kenya.

People across Kenya are on a general strike over a tax hike bill. In order to express their protest, they have taken up the protest as ‘7 Days of Rage’.

Following this, President William Ruto has announced that the tax hike bill tabled in the Kenyan Parliament will be withdrawn. However, the intensity of the struggle did not decrease.

Despite Kenyan President Ruto’s decision to withdraw the Finance Bill, 10 lakh Kenyan protesters are determined to march. Posters saying we will march towards the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, have been widely shared on social media.

When our reporter asked Ken Aseka how the media around the world was reacting to the violent protests in Kenya, he said, “Most of the world media has only covered what is happening here superficially.

But the world’s media failed to gather information about the number of protesters killed by the army’s firing. He said they failed to explain the root cause of the unrest and President William Ruto’s role in it.
