WNBA Match In Atlanta Briefly Stopped After Fan Hurls Green Sex Toy Onto Court: WATCH
During a WNBA clash between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream, a spectator threw a green-coloured sex toy onto the playing area, leading to a brief stoppage. The Valkyries eventually secured a 77-75 victory.
This marked the second such viral incident involving a WNBA spectator in the past three days.
In the closing moments of the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s match between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream, an individual in the stands threw what looked like a green sex toy onto the court.
With the scores level at 75-all, WNBA officials and security staff were forced to halt the proceedings temporarily to address the matter.
“Oh my gosh. That’s inappropriate,” one of the match commentators said on air. “Whoever that is, get them out of here.”
Even the players looked stunned upon realising the cause for the sudden interruption.
Once the court was cleared and the issue dealt with, the Valkyries regained control thanks to a crucial basket from Cecilia Zandalasini, and they went on to edge out the Dream with a narrow 77-75 win.
As of now, the WNBA has not issued any official statement regarding the incident. However, there are growing calls for the league to take strict measures to curb such unruly fan behaviour.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream will be back on the court on Wednesday night, travelling to the College Park Center in Arlington where they’ll face Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
