The new bill stipulates that 50 percent of the administrative jobs and 75 percent of the non-administrative jobs in all private industries and companies in the state of Karnataka should be given to Kannadas.

The Bill also defines who are Kannadas. Accordingly, those who were born and brought up in Karnataka and have lived in Karnataka for more than 15 years and can speak and read Kannada clearly are defined as Kannada. It is also stated in this bill that they must be given jobs in this reservation.

Also, this Soda states that one should possess a certificate of having studied Kannada as a language in secondary school or have acquired Kannada language proficiency as specified by an organization recognized by the Government of Karnataka.

And in this bill, it is also said that if there are no suitable local people available for the required work, the companies and industries should cooperate with the government and provide 3-year training to the gunners and recruit them.

Violators of this law will be fined between 10,000 to 25,000 rupees and the specified company will have to pay a fine of 100 rupees daily until the reservation is made.
