Your Wish Is Not My Command: Odisha Peon Serves Urine Instead Of Water to Officer

A peon from Odisha’s Gajapati district, Siba Narayan Nayak, has been taken into custody for allegedly serving urine in place of drinking water to his senior officer, who later fell sick and required hospitalisation.

In a disturbing incident, a peon employed in the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Department in Odisha’s Gajapati district was arrested for allegedly handing over a bottle filled with urine instead of clean drinking water to his superior officer.

The accused, Siba Narayan Nayak, was arrested by R Udayagiri police after a formal complaint was registered against him.

According to reports, the incident occurred on July 23, when RWSS Assistant Executive Engineer Sachin Gouda and peon Nayak were working late hours at the R Udayagiri office.

As per the complaint, Gouda had asked Nayak to bring a bottle of water. However, Nayak allegedly gave him a steel bottle containing a suspicious liquid, which was later suspected to be urine. Owing to work-related exhaustion, Gouda unknowingly drank from the bottle, India Today reported.

Shortly after consuming it, Gouda began feeling uneasy and grew suspicious about the liquid’s nature. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for medical care.

Gouda then submitted the consumed liquid for laboratory analysis. The lab test results revealed the presence of 2.0 PPM (parts per million) of ammonia in the sample, indicating a possible case of urine contamination.

After recovering, Gouda filed a police complaint against the peon. He further claimed that two additional staff members had also consumed the same water and had reported similar issues with its taste and quality.

Following this, the police detained Nayak for interrogation and subsequently arrested him. A case has been registered under applicable legal sections, and an investigation has been initiated to uncover the motive behind the alleged act.
