Operation Sindhur Attack and India’s Measured Response: Remarks by Home Minister Rajnath Singh
Recently, Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke at the inauguration event of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Delhi, addressing the Indian government’s strategic response to the Operation Sindhur attack and India’s future approach toward Pakistan and the Kashmir issue.
Operation Sindhur was a decisive military strike conducted by the Indian Army targeting terrorist camps inside Pakistan. This operation was a significant achievement for India’s defense forces, demonstrating their capability to take strong action against terrorism. Although the operation had the potential to cause extensive damage, India opted for a calculated and measured approach to avoid unnecessary escalation.
Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that despite being in a position to inflict greater harm, India adhered to principles of restraint and patience. By maintaining a disciplined response, India ensured that its international credibility and moral standing were preserved while continuing to effectively counter terrorism. This approach also sent a clear message that India remains firm in its resolve without resorting to excessive force.
Rajnath Singh reaffirmed India’s stance that Pakistan must withdraw completely from the occupied Kashmir region. He stressed that India will engage in dialogue with Pakistan only concerning terrorism eradication and the issue of occupied Kashmir. This firm position highlights India’s commitment to peaceful resolution but without compromising on security and sovereignty.
Geographically and politically divided, the occupied Kashmir people will eventually return to the national mainstream, the minister added. Most of the local population desires stronger ties with India and better opportunities for peace and development. Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the day is not far when the people of Kashmir will openly declare, “I am Indian, I have returned to India,” symbolizing the restoration of national unity.
Further, the minister spoke about the “Make in India” initiative, highlighting its critical role in national security. According to him, this program is not just about economic growth but also about strengthening the Indian armed forces by providing them with advanced indigenous technologies and equipment. Without this initiative, the military’s ability to conduct effective counterterrorism operations would be severely hampered.
Overall, Rajnath Singh’s speech reflected India’s balanced approach toward national security — combining strength with strategic patience and adhering to international norms while firmly addressing threats. It underscores the government’s resolve to protect the country’s sovereignty while preparing for long-term peace in the region.
This stance also sends a message to the international community that India is ready to defend its borders decisively but responsibly, maintaining moral authority on the global stage. The continued focus on eliminating terrorism and resolving the Kashmir issue peacefully reaffirms India’s commitment to a stable and secure future.
